Coconino County now giving COVID-19 vaccines to jail inmates

Arizona Dept. of Corrections fined $1M for failing to improve health care
A federal judge presiding over a legal settlement on the quality of health care in Arizona’s prisons has imposed $1.1 million in contempt of court fines against the state for failing to follow through on its promises to improve inmate care.
PHOENIX (AP) - Coconino County sheriff’s officials said Feb. 25 that COVID-19 vaccinations now are being administered to jail inmates.
The county s Detention Facility Medical Unit has completed Arizona Department of Health Services training which certifies the sheriff’s office medical staff to administer the doses.
