Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], January 3 (ANI): A dry run for COVID-19 vaccine administration was conducted at Urban Health Training Centre, Srinagar on Saturday. A total of 25 beneficiaries selected from Co-WIN platform participated during the mock drive.
According to Union Health Ministry, the objective of the dry run for COVID-19 vaccine introduction is to assess operational feasibility in the use of COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN) application in the field environment, to test the linkages between planning and implementation and to identify the challenges and guide the way forward prior to actual implementation. This is also expected to give confidence to program managers at various levels, it said.

States and Union Territories across the country are conducting a dry run of the coronavirus vaccination process today. It is being held in 116 districts across 259 sites, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

Co-WIN Coronavirus Vaccine tracking app: India is preparing for a massive coronavirus vaccine rollout in the coming months. In a significant move in making the COVID-19 vaccine available to the general public, the Centre has launched a new mobile app called, Co-WIN App , through which the users will be able to self-register for the coronavirus vaccine.
Those who will be pre-registered on the app will get the vaccine at the earliest as soon as any vaccination will be launched for use.
What is CoWIN app?
Mock drill to be held from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. at six sites As part of the nation-wide dry run for COVID-19 vaccine administration on Saturday, Kerala will also go through the exercise at six sites in four districts in the State at the same time.
In the capital city, the dry run for vaccine administration will be held at the Poozhanad primary health centre (PHC), Peroorkada district model hospital and the KIMS hospital in the private sector. The dry run will also be held at the Vazhathoppu PHC in Idukki, Nenmara community health centre in Palakkad and the the Kurukkamoola PHC in Wayanad.
