Customs generates N1 5trn revenue in 2020

Abuja, Jan. 6, 2020 The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it generated the sum of N1.5 trillion for the year 2020. The Customs’ Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Attah, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday. Attah said the amount realised was over the target of N1,380,765,353,462.00 and also more than the sum of N1,342,006,918,504.55 generated in 2019 in spite the COVID-19 pandemic. The spokesman quoted the Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Col. Hameed Ali, as saying the feat was a result of resolute pursuit of what was right and willingness to adapt to changes brought about by global health challenges occasioned by COVID-19.

Customs intercept truck with locally manufactured guns, cartridges in Kebbi

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has said it intercepted 73 locally manufactured guns and 891 cartridges at Yauri, Zamare waterside in Kebbi. The Customs’ Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Attah, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja, NAN reports. Attah revealed that a truck loaded with locally produced rice was also seized. According to him, sacks which contained weapons were also hidden under the bags of rice. “Three persons were arrested and detained. “However, preliminary investigation is ongoing and they will be made to face the law. “We appeal to the general public, to always provide credible information for effective border security,” he said.

Attah explained that officers of the NCS, Federal Operation Unit (FOU) zone B, who were on patrol along the waterside, had seized a truck loaded with locally produced rice. x He said that upon careful examination, the sacks were found to contain the weapons. The PRO said that three persons were arrested and detained while a preliminary investigation is ongoing. Attah quoted the Controller of FOU Zone B, Hamisu Albashir, as saying that the feat was a signal to all those who might be planning to bring any harmful items into the country through the zone.
