Lee County blue-green algae, wastewater efforts stepped up

Roland Ottolini, the county s natural resources director, told the commission that Solitude has used a variety of techniques in cleaning waterways. The purpose of this contract is to have somebody at our disposal so we could execute action in a relatively short term, Ottolini said. The technologies that we use are pretty much the technologies that were available in 2018. Every day, you are hearing of different types of products, he said.  That is certainly of interest to us if there is something more efficient. Stockbridge Bowl out of the weeds for now, but future plans for infestations remain murky

STOCKBRIDGE — It’s clear sailing on Stockbridge Bowl — for now. But, if the Eurasian milfoil weeds that bedeviled the state-owned, town-maintained “Great Pond” in most previous summers (excluding last year) return, the game plan to attack any infestation remains murky. A Familiar Spark: Firecracker Run Returns To Lakewood In July | News, Sports, Jobs

jyoung@post-journal.com The annual YMCA Firecracker Run returns to the village of Lakewood on July 3. The event, which includes a 10K and 2-mile run, was approved by the village board this week. P-J file photo LAKEWOOD The YMCA Firecracker Run will return to the village on July 3, which is good news following a string of canceled events including the Fourth of July fireworks celebration. The Lakewood Village Board approved the 10K and 2-mile run at a regular meeting this week, and also authorized the restaurant Group Ther-Happy to hold live music performances on Sundays throughout the summer. These developments are a welcome return to regular summer activities in the wake of so many COVID-19 restrictions, and Lakewood residents will also have the added benefit of a newly-refurbished-and-updated Chautauqua Avenue by the end of the summer thanks to the ongoing greenstreet retrofit project.
