THE HSE’s Covid 19 test centre at Punchestown marked a significant milestone last Wednesday 21 July, having taken their 100,000th swab since opening on 24 August 2020.
That momentous occasion involved one Kathryn O’Connell Ruhle, originally from the Kill area originally but living in Cheltenham now, who was “absolutely” surprised to arrive at the drive-in test centre and find she was the 100,000th person to get a swab replied. She received a voucher to mark being the 100,000th person to be swabbed at the centre.
Speaking of the test centre in Punchestown Convention Centre, she said “it is absolutely fantastic, so well-run, very efficient, the staff are excellent at making you feel comfortable.”

Templeboy woman Róisín Kilgannon has won a national award for volunteering.
She was a winner in the Arts, Culture and Festivals category in the national Volunteer Ireland Awards for her commitment to Dromore West Sings. When COVID-19 hit, Róisín (a music teacher and entertainer who had to move back home to Dromore West from Cork) wanted to put together an online concert of some sort to entertain the people in the area.
In creating the concept of Dromore West Sings , which was for Pieta House - Roisin brought together a very large group of people to create an event for the local community, the county, the country and around the world (people were tuned in from all over the world to watch this event taking place in the small rural village.
