It s Official: AHL Approves Binghamton Devils Franchise Relocatio

The board s approval of the relocation was announced Thursday afternoon. The action came about three weeks after Tom Mitchell, Binghamton s executive vice president of operations, was informed by New Jersey that it planned to move the franchise. The Binghamton Devils have been playing their home games in New Jersey during the current Covid-19 pandemic-shortened season. Mitchell indicated New Jersey had been making unreasonable demands but he didn t specify what would have been needed to keep the Devils in Binghamton. The New Jersey affiliation deal was reached after the Ottawa Senators decided to move their AHL affiliate to Belleville, Ontario.

Broome Arena Getting Back to Business After Pandemic Shutdown After a yearlong pause, people will soon be attending an event at the Broome County Arena in downtown Binghamton. Manager Chris Marion said preparations are underway for a weekend spa sale at the renamed Visions Federal Credit Union Veterans Memorial Arena. A dance competition is planned for the Forum Theatre on March 27 and 28. Speaking on WNBF Radio s  Binghamton Now program, Marion said things are starting to get a little bit back to normal. With Covid-19 restrictions being loosened in New York state, some types of smaller events can be held at the Arena and Forum.
