Business owners lament as blackout persists in Kafanchan

TODAY February 4, 2021 Residents and business owners in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State have decried the adverse impact of the lingering electricity blackout in the area. Newsmen report that Kafanchan town has been in darkness since Jan. 18 when Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) shut down its operations in the area after a violent protest over epileptic power supply. The protesters had taken to the streets, lamenting the “outrageous bills” from KEDC in recent times without enjoying commensurate value of electricity supply. A protester was shot in the back and rushed to the hospital, as security operatives fired shots to disperse the angry mob, when the protest turned violent, with a car as well as some motorcycles at the KEDC office touched.
