PM in isolation after covid19 diagnosis

Three days after assuring citizens in his Easter message that the country will overcome the socio-economic challenges triggered by covid19, the Prime Minister has himself contracted the virus and is being treated at an undisclosed site in Tobago.
A statement on Dr Rowley’s Facebook page on Tuesday said he tested positive for covid19 and is in isolation.
It said Rowley, who was in Tobago during the Easter weekend, began experiencing flu-like symptoms on Monday and was subsequently tested for covid19.
Rowley, 72, was due to be given a first dose of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine at 2.30pm on Tuesday at the Scarborough Health Centre.

Acting inspector Alicia Piggott says citizens are generally adhering to the covid19 health protocols at beaches and other recreational spots in Tobago.
The long Easter weekend began in earnest on Good Friday triggering fears in several quarters there could be a further spike in covid19 cases.
This, after the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday there were 46 new covid19 cases and three deaths within a 24-hour period.
Asked by Newsday if people were obeying the health protocols, Piggott said: “Yes they are.”
