LAHORE: The government has directed the tehsil and district transition committees across the province to hold their meetings soon after Eid holidays on July 23 to devise an action plan for restoration of the local institutions in line with apex court’s March 25 short order and the July 6 detailed judgment.
“It is to inform you that as per directions of the Lahore High Court, coordinators of the tehsil and district transition committees are required to hold the first meeting on July 23, soon after Eid to devise the action plan for early implementation of directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” reads a letter sent by the local government and community development department to all assistant and deputy commissioners on Tuesday.

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday lifted ban on sanctioned seats for constables and traffic police and allowed two new 16-grade Risaldar seats in the Border Military Police in Rajanpur and recruitment for vacant BMP seats in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The approval was accorded by the Cabinet Standing Committee in its 60th meeting on Finance and Development. The meeting was presided over by Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht and attended by Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Finance Secretary Iftikhar Ali Saho, Planning and Development Board Chairman Abdullah Khan Sumbal and others.
Second phase of ‘Khidmat Aap ki Dehleez Per’ launched

LAHORE: After successful completion of the first phase, the Punjab government has launched the five-week second phase of the Khidmat Aap ki Dehleez Per programme that would continue till August 1.
According to the schedule, the Week for Cleanliness and Drainage will be observed from June 28 to July 4, Special Campaign Week from July 5 to July 11, Plantation Week (Her Bashar Do Shajar) from July 12 to July 18, Eid-ul-Azha Week from July 19 to July 25 and Road Safety Week would be observed from July 26 to August 1.
To review the programme, the Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat. The additional chief secretary, local government secretary, Punjab Information Technology Board chairman and other officers concerned attended the meeting while all the divisional commissioners participated in it through video link.
