ECP body asked to scrutinise two US cos in PTI foreign funding case National January 15, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) scrutiny committee was asked Thursday to scrutinise the official record of the two firms, registered on the instructions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan regarding the foreign funding case. The demand was made by the petitioner Akbar S Babar’s lawyers Syed Ahmad Hassan Shah and Badar Iqbal Chaudhry, as the committee met for the second meeting here at the Election Commission Secretariat. A day earlier, it was revealed that PTI s latest written response made a complete departure from earlier stance of denying any illegal funding from the US: Now PTI claims that if any funds were collected illegally through two US registered companies registered on Imran Khan s written instructions, the responsibility lies with their agents managing the two PTI LLCs 5975 and 6160.

Village, Panchayat Councils: ECP asks Punjab govt to okay names by Jan 10

National December 31, 2020 ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday called on the government of Punjab to get the names of village and Panchayat councils approved by January 10; otherwise the ECP would publish old names of Village and Panchayat Councils. To this effect, a meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in which members of the Election Commission, secretary Election Commission, secretary Local Government Punjab, director Military Land Cantonment and other officers participated. The secretary Election Commission said the Local Government Act and the Village and Panchayat Act came into force on May 4, 2019. The provincial government is bound by the law to establish local government bodies in the province within 21 months. And elections must be held before February 3, 2021, according to the law.
