By Orla Dwyer Thursday 27 May 2021, 8:41 PM 1 hour ago 19,778 Views 48 Comments Image: PA Images Image: PA Images THE GOVERNMENT’S SUB-COMMITTEE on Covid-19 is in the process of agreeing a number of measures as part of the easing of restrictions over the next few months.  Cabinet will meet tomorrow to sign-off on the timeline, ahead of a public announcement on Friday evening.  The sub-committee meeting is still ongoing, but it is understood that the National Public Health Emergency Team has recommended that indoor dining can return no sooner than 5 July.

On Friday, however, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment put out a statement encouraging the use of antigen tests in the workplace. In the statement, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said: We now have a Government endorsed report on antigen testing and I know many employers are using it already. I am encouraging more to do so. These tests should be used as an additional health and safety measure and not as a substitute for any other precautions. Coronavirus: Nine deaths and 379 new cases confirmed in Ireland Journal.ie 3 days ago © Leon Farrell Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan HEALTH OFFICIALS HAVE confirmed that nine further deaths have been reported in people with Covid-19 in Ireland.  Additionally, 379 more cases of Covid-19 have been recorded, according to the latest figures from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET). The total number of Covid-19 cases since the outbreak of the virus here last year now stands at 253,567. The number of people who have died is now 4,929. Of the cases notified today: 190 are in men, and 185 are in women; 77% are in people under 45 years of age;
