(The Center Square) â Democrats are turning up the pressure on Republican Gov. Chris Sununu over his administration s handling of a COVID-19 outbreak at a veterans home that sickened nearly 200 and killed 37 elderly residents.
In a letter to Sununuâs office, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley rips the governor s sham
report on the outbreak and requests documents related to the stateâs response to the outbreak at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton and a report that cleared officials at the long-term care facility of wrongdoing. Despite calls from New Hampshire veterans and civic leaders, you have failed to produce an independent report to examine what caused this outbreak, what could have prevented it, and what could have been done to protect our veterans during the outbreak, Buckley wrote in the March 25 letter.

MY SINCERE personal wishes for all the best of this seasonâs gifts of health, happiness and blessings to all!
Step 1 started Tuesday as I pecked away on my keyboard to share my excitement with you over the arrival of the initial COVID-19 vaccine shipment and distribution.
I have no idea where to even begin to thank the thousands involved in such an enormous and mind-boggling program, but a heartfelt âTHANK YOUâ anyway.
I cannot resist responding to a few comments and letters criticizing New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu and other state officials as well as Commander Margaret LaBrecque for the very unfortunate situation at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton.

CONCORD â A federal outside review will conclude that plans and procedures were properly followed to control the COVID-19 outbreak at the Veterans Home in Tilton that infected 168 residents and staff and killed 28, Gov. Chris Sununu said Thursday.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Committee inspection team sent 17 staff at the governorâs request, including the national director of its infection control team.
The group will do a follow-up report that analyzes all the homeâs practices in dealing with the outbreak, the governor said.
âThe federal VA will do an outside review. COVID could come in any number of ways. This is to make sure we have the right processes and procedures internally,â Sununu said.
