Police say victim upset alleged attacker was going to jail
According to the police report:
Officers were sent to the 2000 block of Taylor Street Tuesday night. They found Joshua Cox lying on a bed with fresh blood on the sheets.
Cox said his girlfriend of two or three months was lying next him, got up and came back spitting up blood. An officer noticed Cox had blood on his arm and knuckles.
The woman told police they were play fighting and he hit her in the nose. The officer noticed the victim had blood around her nose consistent with being hit. The woman said she got scared and ran to a neighbor’s house because Cox was acting crazy and would not give her her phone. When the officer asked what happened, she said “I’m not going to tell you what happened, I don’t want him to go to jail. The woman got on the phone and was talking to Cox’s daughter. She said, “Your dad literally punched me in the nose, I had to run to the neighbors to get away.”
On Friday, April 23 Lt. Pete Bastardo met with an individual at the Brown County Law Enforcement Center. This was in regard to a dog bite. Information was gathered, see report for further details.
On Sunday, April 25 at about 8:16 a.m. Deputy Saydie Bradley was dispatched to the intersection of Goldie Ln. and Hwy 279. This was for a disorderly. Upon initial arrival, no one was located. At about 8:45 a.m. the victim of the assault arrived at the Sheriff’s Office. A report was made.
On Sunday, April 25 Deputy Saydie Bradley, was dispatched to CR 215 for a theft. A report was made.

SABINE COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - An accused murderer is back in jail less than a week after being released from on bond.
Matthew Hoy Edgar is set to stand trial for the alleged murder of 19-year-old Livye Lewis in October 2020. Edgar was granted a $50,000 bond and released on Thursday, April 8. However, on Monday, a Sabine County Grand Jury handed two indictments to Edgar, one for Criminal Mischief, the second for Assault Family Violence. Both pertain to alleged behavior aimed at Montana Nicole Bockel.
