Construction on the Amazon fulfillment center continues in Carencro, but some say it s causing issues. For months, people who live nearby tell KATC the traffic, the dust, and the noise have been a problem.
KATC spoke with several people who live off of Sonnier Road. They say this last week is the quietest they have heard the area since construction began in October. Nobody informed us what was going on or what would be going on, Paul Morgan said.

A couple opening their third adult shop is facing some push-back from the city of Carencro.
The owners of Crave Romance Boutique, Mike and Jolene Menard, say theyâve been in business for more than 20 years, and theyâve helped a lot of people with their needs along the way.
âWe crave food, we crave love, we crave intimacy,â said Mike Menard, âBut a craving like that, you gotta go take care of it.â
Menard says his stores were shut down during the pandemic, but after reopening, business is buzzing.

A Carencro Councilwoman was confronted at a recent meeting for refusing to wear a mask while in attendance.
Video of Monday s council meeting posted to the city s website shows the confrontation between council member Kim Guidry and Carencro city manager Don Chauvin.
Near the end of the meeting, the council discussed Mayor Glenn Brasseaux s absence due to his recent COVID-19 diagnosis. Chauvin said that the mayor is doing much better and that he and Brasseaux communicate regularly.
Chauvin also took the opportunity to state that before the December 21 meeting that he had asked councilwoman Kim Guidry to wear a mask.

Amazon will build a new 1-million-square-foot, fulfillment center in Lafayette Parish, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Tuesday, a move that could bring about 500 jobs to the north side of the parish.
The $100 million facility, which will be in Carencro, will be the first Amazon fulfillment center in Louisiana.
Edwards called it a tremendous project win for the State of Louisiana. This facility signals a new milestone for Carencro, which has seen significant growth over the past few years, Edwards said.
The project is anticipated to add 982 indirect jobs, bringing a total of more than 1,400 jobs to the Acadiana region. Edwards said he s anticipating the site will be operating in the fourth quarter of 2021.
