Local Trolleys May Become National Historic Landmark
Yakima Valley Trolley s should become a National Historic Landmark. That from Ken Johnsen, President of Yakima Valley Trolleys. Johnsen is asking for a letter of endorsement from the Yakima City Council for an application to the National Park Service on behalf of the City of Yakima s trolley railroad, the Yakima Valley Transportation Company so it can be named as an historic landmark. The Yakima Valley Trolley railroad is the last historically intact early 20th Century electric interurban railroad in existence. The railroad is already on the National Register of Historic Places.
Johnson, the President of Yakima Valley Trolleys says there are no other electric interurban railroads left in America that still use all their original infrastructure and streetcars and locomotives. In a letter to the council Johnsen writes

Growers Urge Support of Behavioral Health Services
Depression and suicide hits all kinds of people in all kinds of work including farming. Local grower Bret Monson of AgForestry Class 42 Public Policy Group says if you don t live in an urban area resources are limited to get help with mental issues. Monson is pushing for passage of House Bill 1196, sponsored by Representative Marcus Riccelli, that he says will help to expand behavioral health services available in rural communities. Farmers and agricultural workers face depression and suicide brought on by weather, crop failures, impacts of global trade policies, and many other factors beyond their control. A press release says
