Kenrick Haywood is among residents of Rose Place who are calling for businesses and other outsiders to stop disposing of their garbage in the facilities provided for that community.
And he is appealing to the relevant authorities to close down the concrete enclosure” in particular, since it encourages an unhealthy environment.
The concrete enclosure is one of two facilities provided for garbage disposal in the community, the other being a ‘garbage skip’.

Garbage Woes in Rose Place - Road blocked
Household garbage and other debris scattered across the main road in Rose Place, effectively blocking vehicular traffic.

Residents of Rose Place, on Tuesday morning blocked the main road through the community with household garbage and other debris, which they said were left unattended, i.e. undisposed since before Christmas Day.
However, following quick postings of the action on social media platforms, health officials and the Solid Waste Management Unit responded swiftly to have the garbage removed and the throughway reopened.
Some angry and frustrated residents of the West Kingstown community, which is earmarked to undergo transformation with the construction of a New Kingstown Port, said that the community had become a dumping ground for garbage from business places in Kingstown, as well as coconut vendors.
