The NSW Planning Department is taking charge of the proposal to overhaul Waterlooâs public housing estate after the City of Sydney and the stateâs social housing agency failed to reach an agreement over controversial plans to redevelop the site.
Frustrated by delays to the plans for the massive redevelopment, Planning Minister Rob Stokes warned in February that he would intervene if a stand-off between the cityâs council and the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, over the scale of the development, wasnât resolved by March 12.
