Top American economist Larry Summers is sounding the alarm on rising U.S. inflation, saying that it is ticking up quicker than he originally expected.
Inflation is increasingly a more concerning and larger threat as consumer prices continue to rise, former National Economic Council Director and Treasury Secretary Larry Summers told Axios on Monday. He also criticized the Federal Reserve’s policies, suggesting that its decision to keep interest rates low could harm the economy.
“Data are pointing more towards higher inflation than I expected, and sooner,” Summers told Axios. “With more inflation signs sooner than I would have expected.”
Biden administration officials are investigating reports of unaccompanied migrant minors spending nights on buses outside a federal holding facility in Dallas, Texas, NBC News reported Thursday.
Migrant children are sleeping, eating and using the restroom on buses outside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, sometimes for days, according to NBC News.
“This is completely unacceptable,” Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra said, NBC News reported. “We’re quickly investigating this to get to the bottom of what happened, and we’ll work to make sure this never happens again. The safety and well-being of the children is our priority.”

A group of Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation to cutoff U.S. funding for the Wuhan lab at the center of the COVID-19 lab leak hypothesis.
The Defund the Wuhan Institute of Virology Act would prohibit all federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), from sending cash to the Wuhan lab that some have suggested could be linked to the origin of COVID-19. The bill is being introduced by Republican Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry and 13 other GOP cosponsors.

Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton tore into Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra Wednesday for “trying to ignore” a U.S. law banning partial-birth abortion.
“It’s no surprise that a pro-abortion radical like Xavier Becerra is trying to ignore the law banning partial-birth abortion he voted against it when he was a congressman,” Cotton told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
“But that shouldn’t matter,” the senator said. “Becerra is an officer of the United States government. He doesn’t get to pick and choose which laws to enforce and which to ignore.”
