Top Story January 1, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday increased the prices of petrol by Rs2.31/liter, diesel Rs1.80/liter, kerosene by Rs3.36/liter, and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) price by Rs3.95/liter. The increase will be effective from today (Jan 1) till January 15. According to the PM House statement, PM Imran Khan rejected the summary forwarded to him by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), which had recommended an increase in the price of petrol by Rs10.68 per liter. The Ogra had also recommended an increase in the price of diesel by Rs8.37 per liter. However, the PM House said that the premier had rejected the suggestions and instead, approved an increase in the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs2.31 per liter and Rs1.80 per liter respectively. The PM House said that the Ogra had recommended an increase in prices of other petroleum products such as kerosene oil by Rs10.92 per liter and light diesel by Rs14.87. Gas shortage crisis lingers on in Peshawar, other parts of KP Peshawar January 1, 2021 PESHAWAR: The lack of natural gas supply or low pressure in case of its availability has made life miserable for the people of Peshawar and other parts of the KP who have criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial government and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) for failing to resolve the crisis. A number of gas consumers in the city told The News the problem compounded as the weather got tough recently. They complained there is hardly any area in the provincial metropolis which is receiving proper natural gas supply.

PM Imran Rejects OGRA s Outrageous Proposal, Allows Minor Increase in Petrol Prices

The federal government on Thursday increased the price of petrol by Rs. 2.31 per litre and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price by Rs. 15 per kg. The price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 2.31 to Rs. 106 per litre from the existing Rs. 103.69. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been hiked by Rs. 1.80 to Rs. 110.24 from the current price of Rs. 108.44. The price of kerosene oil has been pushed up by Rs. 3.36 per litre while the price of light diesel oil has been increased by Rs. 3.95 per litre. The new prices will come into effect from 1st of January 2021. In order to provide relief to the masses, Prime Minister Imran Khan partially rejected the summary of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) which proposed to hike prices of the petroleum products by up to Rs. 10 per litre.
