Written By: Staff reports | × Tri-County Health Care and Wadena County Public Health will be hosting a joint vaccine clinic at the Maslowski Wellness and Research Center on March 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Collectively, 500 Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations will be administered. These vaccinations will target current priority groups in phase 1b tier 2, including people with health conditions such as sickle cell, down syndrome, cancer and various other debilitating health problems, according to a Tri-County news release. This tier also targets high-risk essential food processing workers. Additionally, vaccinations will target phase 1b tier 3, which includes people 45-64 years old that have at least one underlying medical condition. Wadena City Council members approved a Verndale Lions gambling permit for pull tabs at Iron Corral and a gambling permit for the Wadena Hockey Club at the Little Round Still during their Tuesday, March 9, council meeting. Council members unanimously approved the permits without further discussion. Actual permitting is done by the State of Minnesota. In last month’s meeting, the council approved a gambling permit for the Deer Creek Lions to have pull tabs at Drastic Measures Brewing. Now the three latest alcohol-serving establishments in town all have gambling opportunities inside.

The Chevy struck the semi when it pulled out of a driveway onto Hwy 10. Written By: Staff reports | × Two teens were injured in Aldrich in a collision with a semi Tuesday, March 2, on U.S. Hwy 10. Brookelyn Kay Huisenga, 17, of Aldrich was driving a 2013 Chevy Cruze out of a driveway at 201st Ave. and Hwy 10 in Aldrich when her vehicle struck a Freightliner semi. The semi was headed west and driven by David T. Markham, 37, of Henderson. Markham was not injured. Huisenga and her passenger Madden R. Roberts, 15, Aldrich, received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Tri-County Health Care in Wadena. Both were wearing seatbelts and no alcohol was involved according to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report.
