Arthur Harold Gilmore, 89, passed away peacefully March 6, 2021 at his home in Gainesville, Virginia, with his wife, Nell and their three children, Barbara Grasso (Gary), Michael (Kathy), and Stephen (Nancy) by his side. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Katherine Burge (Brandon), Michael Grasso (Megan), Thomas Grasso, Mitchell Gilmore, and Trent Gilmore; seven great-grandchildren; and by his brother, Dale Gilmore (Ann). Art was preceded in death by his sister, Harriett Deissler (Howard).
Arthur was born April 21, 1931 in Williamsport, to Paul and Harriett Gilmore. During his time at Williamsport High School he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and while in the Reserves decided to compete for an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. He graduated from Williamsport High School and Severn School in Severna Park, Maryland, in 1949. Arthur received his appointment and that summer reported to the Naval Academy. Several area agencies will receive an extra level of support thanks to a $2.2 million gift to the Hutchinson Community Foundation from the estate of the late Bonnie and Franklin Fee.
Born in Hutchinson in the 1930s, both attended school here before departing to the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
But Hutchinson and family drew them back and in the early 1950s, Franklin and his brother Jim joined their father Frank’s real estate and insurance firm, the Frank Fee Agency.
Through a series of mergers, by 1957, it had become a partnership between the three called the Fontron-Fee agency, with a Hutchinson lineage dating back to 1883.
In Fort Walton Beach, there are 12 candidates vying for three seats on the city council. The candidates are Nic Allegretto, Gloria DeBerry, Jason Floyd, Sean T. Murphy, Debra Riley, Brad Roehrig, Michael Rojas, David Schmidt, Travis Smith, Gareth A. Stearns, Sonya Lynn Vazquez and T. Payne Walker.
