BOSTON, MA The Boston Red Sox today continued their participation in Major League Baseball’s 2021 Draft with nine additional selections in rounds 2-10.
Over the first two days of the draft, Boston has selected four right-handed pitchers, one catcher, one second baseman, one third baseman, one shortstop, one center fielder, and one utility player.

For some students, interning in Washington, D.C. is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But Trinity Catholic High School graduate, Grace Vogel of Hutchinson will get twice as much experience this year.
Vogel, who is a rising senior at Kansas State University is interning with U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann during the first part of the summer and U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall throughout the end of the summer.
During her internship with Mann, Vogel learned about the legislative process, attended briefings on behalf of staff members and assisted constituents. Grace was a great asset to our office this summer, Mann said. She has a passion for public service, and it translated into her work. I m thankful for her dedication this summer serving the people of the Big First.

ATLANTA Multiple state laws are set to take effect Thursday, including one targeting hazing at Georgia colleges and universities.

Senate Bill 85 expands the definition for fraternity and sorority hazing and sets penalties for hazing.

Greensburg resident receives Bateman Scholarship from K-State

Allison Kirby, of Greensburg, was among the first six recipients of the first-ever John H. Bateman Scholarship at Kansas State University.
The award recognizes select outstanding students who plan to major in engineering at the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.
Bateman Scholars will potentially receive a total of $30,000 over four years in addition to any other university scholarship awards. Endowed from a fund established by the late John and Vonnie Bateman, the renewable honor is designated for high-achieving, highly involved student scholars.
John Bateman was a 1938 K-State graduate in civil engineering and retired as president of Marley International Inc. and as vice president of the Marley Co. in Mission.
