An FMCG company has been forcing its employees to come to office – even when some of them could have worked from home – while restrictions on activities are in force, a young engineer from Maharashtra has claimed.
And not just that; some employees were pulled up by the HR department of this company because they took Covid-19 tests found to be positive, creating unrest among the remaining workforce. Please keep this anonymous as I don’t want to be the reason they lose their job. But I just wanted to say this to someone. It’s so sad, the engineer told ET last week.

New Delhi: On 13 April, 101 days after the first two Covid-19 vaccines were approved in India, the central government took a decision to waive the requirement of bridging trials in the country for vaccines approved in Europe, Japan, the US etc. What prompted its rigidity in December last year, when it refused to grant the same waiver to the Pfizer mRNA vaccine, is a mystery. Pfizer eventually withdrew its application and now wants its entry to be subject to certain conditions.

New Delhi: A far higher proportion of people in the 0-19 age group has been affected during the second coronavirus wave, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) flagged in a meeting of the Covid-19 task force Thursday.
However, the data was found to be wanting on some parameters and the council has now been asked to reassess the numbers and come back with the fresh findings.
Sources said that while the data does show that many more children are being affected this time, it could be a function simply of the opening up process, reopening of schools and colleges rather than any change in the virus behaviour or its mutation.
