Gulf Air operates special flights for Covid vaccine delivery
MANAMA, March 13, 2021 Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has operated a cargo-only flight to China to transport around 300,000 Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines into the kingdom in support of the National Vaccination Campaign. Since the onset of the pandemic, Gulf Air has supported vaccine shipments to Bahrain, alongside supporting wider viral mitigation efforts, and delivering vital food and medical supplies. Furthermore, Gulf Air said it has redesigned its on-board experience to safely connect passengers with their chosen destinations as well as assisting citizens and residents with their safe return as part of the International Covid-19 Repatriation Programme (ICRP).
PETALING JAYA: No holders of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards or those from the Rohingya ethnic group will be sent home in the upcoming repatriation programme, says Immigration director-general, Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud. The Immigration Department refers to various media reports regarding the repatriation programme on Feb 23 using Myanmar Navy boats. No holders of UNHCR cards or Rohingya will be involved in this programme. This is a part of the regular repatriation exercises carried out by Immigration depots, he said in a statement on Monday (Feb 15).
He added that those being sent back had offences such as not having identification documents, overstaying, and improper use of travel passes.
