4,276 persons contract COVID-19 while 19 succumb to the infection; 86,179 persons vaccinated
After more than five months, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu crossed the 4,000-mark on Thursday. A total of 4,276 people contracted the infection and 19 persons succumbed to it.
The State last recorded over 4,000 cases a day on October 17 (4,295 cases). The fresh cases have pushed Tamil Nadu’s tally to 9,15,386, and its active caseload has touched 30,131. Of these, Chennai accounts for 11,633 people who are still under treatment.
Chennai’s daily count exceeded 1,500 on Thursday, with 1,520 more people testing positive for the infection. The city’s overall tally touched 2,59,320. In Coimbatore, 427 people tested positive, followed by 398 in Chengalpattu. Eight districts recorded over 100 cases each Tiruvallur (199), Tiruppur (154), Tiruchi (131), Thanjavur (125), Nagapattinam (118), Madurai (115), Kancheepuram (107) and Salem (103).

With 836 more persons testing positive for the COVID-19 infection on Monday, the number of active cases rose to 5,149. As on date, 8,60,562 persons have been infected in the State.
During the day, another 553 persons were discharged after treatment from various health facilities, taking the tally of those who have been discharged post-treatment to 8,42,862. The State added four more deaths in the last 24 hours. Till date 12,551 persons have died of the infection, according to public health officials.
In Chennai district, 317 more persons tested positive and 266 patients were discharged from health facilities after treatment. The district also recorded one death.

11 districts record less than 10 infections; 11 more persons succumb to COVID-19; 1,007 discharged after treatment
Three districts Ariyalur, Kallakurichi and Perambalur reported no new COVID-19 case, and 11 districts saw less than 10 infections each on Saturday, as 910 more persons tested positive in Tamil Nadu.
The new cases took the State’s tally to 8,19,845. Another 1,007 persons were discharged, taking the total number of persons discharged so far to 7,99,427. The State recorded 11 more deaths, taking its toll to 12,146.
