Barton Peveril student wins regional BMX championship again

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College student Aimee Bancroft. A COLLEGE student has once again won the South Regional BMX Championship. For the second consecutive year, Barton Peveril Sixth Form College’s Aimee Bancroft took home first place at the South Regional BMX Championships. This year’s championship took place at Hayes Hawkes BMX Course in London and played host to the region’s best BMX cyclists. Bancroft, who is vying for national and international titles in the coming season, earned her place in the invitation-only event after winning an interclub competition held at Bournemouth BMX Track on October 25. The student said she was “super stoked and happy” to defend her title.

Tourism and hospitality industry toasts £2 million training boost

By Scott Wright SCOTLAND’S tourism and hospitality sector has hailed a ‘real show of commitment’ after securing £2 million of public funding to provide two thousand leading industry scholarships for free. The online training courses, which are being rolled out from today, have been described as a fillip for people who have seen their prospects badly affected by the pandemic. They also aim to improve skills in the workforce ahead of the hospitality and tourism sector reopening once coronavirus restrictions are eased. The Scottish Government funding was secured following the joint efforts of the Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA) and HIT Scotland, a charity which supports up-and-coming talent through its respected scholarship programme.
