19:27 | Lima, Apr. 3. Peru will receive 200,000 Pfizer vaccine doses a week starting Wednesday, April 7, according to the contract signed by the Government, the President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti affirmed on Saturday.
The Head of State explained that, given the lack of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide, the Executive Branch is trying to define the number of vaccines that the country will receive each quarter, and the number of doses per week is defined as the next quarter approaches.
“That is what happened with Pfizer. We knew 50,000 doses were going to arrive in March, and they did…, then came the announcement of additional 117,000 doses through COVAX (Facility),” he expressed.

Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Saturday urged Peruvians to go to the polls on Sunday, April 11, in order to elect the country s ruler for the next five years.
According to the Head of State, the Government is committed to holding fair, transparent, and safe elections, under strict neutrality, and such commitment is being fulfilled.
In addition, he noted that the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) have coordinated safety protocols to avoid COVID-19 infections.
In this sense, the statesman emphasized that the number of polling stations has been increased and that a staggered schedule based on the last digit of the voters ID has been suggested.
