Eight more coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths were recorded on Staten Island in the past 24 hours, along with 333 new cases of the disease, city Health Department data shows. Yet, at the same time, coronavirus hospitalizations in the borough, which have been see-sawing for nearly two months, dipped by six. As of 1 p.m. Thursday, 1,432 borough residents are believed to have died from complications related to the coronavirus, according to the most recent data available.

The city Health Department, over the past 24 hours, recorded six more coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths on Staten Island, while the borough’s disease-related hospitalizations rose by 10. And while coronavirus infections had spiked after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, less than 300 new cases were reported here in a 24-hour period for the third straight day. As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, 1,424 borough residents are believed to have died from complications related to the coronavirus.
