GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) - Opening a new business isnât an easy venture especially in the middle of a pandemic.
In North Carolina, it all started when Governor Roy Cooper issued a stay-at-home order in March 2020.
Keeping doors open at small and large businesses alike was a challenge in and of itself, but one Gastonia woman says she took the risk of starting her own despite the ever-changing uncertainties.
While a still fledgling art student 10 years ago Chantel Setzer-Porter got her first tattoo. She also got a glimpse her future. I was like, I would love to be a tattoo artist and put my skills to work. People could actually wear my art, that would be cool. recalls Setzer-Porter, who recently opened her Vibrant Ink Tattoos in Shelby.
The parlor s name offers a clue of what to expect from her work. She has painted the former car dealership turquoise, its walls covered by colorful paintings of tattoos. A stand filled with colored pencils gives folks waiting a wat to pass time.
