Nearly three years after the 2018 Dasehra train tragedy in Amritsar, which claimed over 50 lives near Jaura Phatak, the Punjab Government has finally issued orders to provide jobs to 34 family members of the deceased.
34 families to benefit
A member each from 34 affected families will get jobs, while the matter is pending in cases where there is a dispute
They will be accommodated at DC office, Civil Surgeon office, MC, Education Department and Improvement Trust
In March, the Cabinet had approved jobs for victim families, but the latter had been protesting the delay
Recently, they had written to the Chief Minister, demanding implementation of the announcement

Chandigarh, July 16 : Historical tunnel-like structures were unearthed while excavating the basement of a building in the complex of the holiest of Sikh shrines Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar, officials said on Friday.
Several Sikh bodies have been demanding the construction at the site be stopped and authorities should focus on restoring the structures as the brick-lined structures hold religious significance.
The tunnel-like structures made of small bricks, believed to be used centuries ago, were found at a depth of 25 feet during the construction of a jora ghar (shoe rack) on Thursday.
