Summary This was during a three-hour meeting with the legislators led by Mubende Municipality MP-elect Bashir Sempa, and Ms Shartsi Musherure, the Mawogola North MP-elect,  last Saturday. Advertisement President Museveni has pledged to work with newly-elected National Resistance Movement (NRM) legislators from the central region to deliver services to their electorates. Lie-in-State for Late Member

577 reads The body of the late member for Kerema, Richard Mendani arrived at the National Parliament House yesterday at 10am, accompanied by his grieving widow and family, for the Lie-in-State ceremony. The casket was laid in the grand hall for members of parliament and dignitaries to pay their respects. Among them was Prime Minister James Marape and Leader of Opposition Belden Namah. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was a closed casket ceremony with no viewing of the body. The casket was in parliament for an hour before it was taken back to the funeral home where it will spend the night before being flown to Kerema early tomorrow morning.

Museveni to meet new MPs tomorrow

Daily Monitor Wednesday April 14 2021 Summary Insiders within the ruling NRM say Mr Museveni will, among other things, caution MPs-elect against disunity and corruption. Advertisement President Museveni will tomorrow address the newly elected ruling party lawmakers gathered at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi District. The President is expected to lecture the MPs-elect on the NRM ideology, governance and the core mission of the ruling party.  Insiders within the ruling party said Mr Museveni would, among other things, caution the MPs-elect against disunity, corruption and “parasitism”.  He is expect to caution MPs against selfishness and greed and ask NRM elected officials to be agents of wealth creation in the fight against poverty and unemployment. 

Intrigue, blackmail threaten to tear the NRM party apart- Babu warns

He expresses fear that if intrigue and blackmail are not addressed, they are bound to further tear down the party. Capt Babu attributes the divisions in the party to the top party leadership that he has accused of on several occasions supporting opposition candidates against party flag bears in the just concluded elections. He says this is also evidenced by the confusion surrounding the forthcoming election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
