Kamala Harris took an oath of office on Wednesday to become the vice president of the United States.
The ceremony thrilled residents in the Indian village of Thulasendrapuram, where Harris grandfather was born.
The village celebrated her swearing in with flowers, firecrackers, and prayers.
Photos of the events in Thulasendrapuram show people holding signs displaying Harris and distributing sweets as a religious offering.
