Mono approves motion to better regulate monster homes  | Orangeville Citizen

June 4, 2021   ·   0 Comments By Peter Richardson A motion to better regulate the building of so called “monster homes” in Mono, was brought forward by Deputy Mayor John Creelman during Mono’s Council meeting last Tuesday (May 25). His motion suggested that the Town’s planning director, David Trotman, bring back to Council a comprehensive report outlining bylaw and/or official plan changes, that would establish a site plan process for larger residential homes, defining the size and conditions that would apply through a site plan process for these large structures. He requested the plan be returned to Council no later than August 1st.

Better internet services may be coming to Mono in the future

February 18, 2021   ·   0 Comments By Peter Richardson, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Broadband with substantial increases in availability and speed may be coming to Mono. Council heard a request from Rogers Communications Canada Inc., to support their application to the Federal government to become part of the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF) program. Their aim is to supply the entire town of Mono with Fibre Optic Internet service. Currently, much of Mono is underserviced by the available service providers and this prevents many residents and businesses from taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by digital communications. Broadband connectivity is a key priority for Mono Council and is in fact, part of their Corporate Strategic Plan.

Bathroom upgrades coming to Monora Park | Orangeville Citizen

December 10, 2020   ·   0 Comments By Peter Richardson, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter A presentation was delivered to Mono Council last Tuesday regarding the refurbishing of the washroom in Monora Park. During the presentation, Kim Heaton, Director of Recreation, presented Council with a proposed budget of the refurbishment for $24,725. Because the building would be used by the public, it had to go through the usual building code procedures and trade work had to be completed by licensed contractors, which accounted for some added expense over being done in-house. Coun. Ralph Manktelow felt that the price was rather high and asked for a breakdown and was told that the structure required almost a rebuild as opposed to just a renovation, plus the added building code costs accounted for the total.
