Smart Dubai hosts roundtable for Cashless Dubai Working Group
DUBAI, 8th February, 2021 (WAM) Smart Dubai hosted a roundtable for the Cashless Dubai Working Group along with stakeholders from the government and private sectors today, to explore ways to engage the private sector in the Cashless Dubai initiative and receive their feedback and official expressions of interest.
The Dubai Government had formed the Cashless Dubai Working Group back in November 2020, bringing Smart Dubai together with various Dubai Government entities to collaborate on setting an action plan to shift all payment transactions in Dubai to secure and easy-to-use cashless platforms across all sectors, as well as to produce a calculated roadmap for the planned transition towards a cashless society.

Empay was launched as part of the efforts of Dubai Economy to enhance the cashless payments ecosystem in the country
Dubai Economy has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Emirates Payment Services to enable payments relating to commercial licences through the Empay smart application, the world’s first contactless instant credit lifestyle payment ecosystem.
The agreement will enable customers of Dubai Economy to have an instant credit facility and complete licensing transactions within five minutes. Users registering on Empay can have their Emirates ID scanned on the app, following which a digital card with an instant credit balance will be generated in two minutes. The digital card, which is powered by Mastercard, will enable users to complete payments in a smooth, fast, smart, and secure manner. Empay can be downloaded from Google Play Store and App Store.
