Police said the body had injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon and a rope mark around neck.
After the area residents identified the body as that of Feroz, police apprised his brother-in-law Abdul Halal, who lives near Dhuri Line, of the incident.
Police said, “Investigation suggests that Feroz, who was a drunkard, had left his rented accommodation at 9.30pm on Wednesday. Later, his body was found. He might have been murdered at some other place and the body dumped here.”
Model Town police station SHO inspector Jatinderjit Singh said a murder case was registered on Friday.

Ludhiana: A day after a woman delivered twin babies in a park at the Civil Hospital, the health department has ordered a probe into the circumstances that forced the woman to deliver there.
According to the 30-year-old woman, Uma Devi of Dhuri Line, she had come to the hospital two days ago with mild pain in stomach and wanted to take treatment for the same. But, she did not know that the delivery would happen so soon, else she would have gone home after taking medicines.
Uma said she went looking for her husband, who had gone out, but she could not find him. As she sat in the park waiting for his return, she gave birth to the twins there only.
