The 140,000-square-foot building will be located at 2490 E. Franklin Road, just west of Eagle Road. When it opens early next year, it will provide hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs, Amazon spokesperson Anne Laughlin Carpita said in an email. Their investment in this facility is a commitment by the company to their local customers, and with job opportunities it s also a commitment to the future prosperity of our city, surrounding communities and to the state of Idaho, Meridian Mayor Robert Simison said in a press release.

May 5 More than half a million Idahoans are officially fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Data from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare shows that 504,388 people were fully vaccinated as of Tuesday. That equates to about 36% of the state s eligible population (16 and older). The state has administered 1,080,893 doses in all, with 43.5% of the population having received at least one dose.
The vaccination milestone coincides with the continued decrease in the state s seven-day moving average of new COVID-19 cases, which stayed below 200 cases per day for the second consecutive day, at 174.1.

Idahoâs seven-day moving average for new COVID-19 cases fell below 200 per day on Monday, a first for the state since June of 2020.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported 368 new cases of COVID-19 between Saturday and Monday. That brought the seven-day moving average down to 185.6 per day over the past week. The seven-day moving average has been trending downward since reaching a peak of around 1,600 in mid-December, but it had not fallen below 200 per day since June 27.

Three of the four counties under Central District Healthâs jurisdiction are currently competing for Idahoâs highest seven-day moving average incidence rate for COVID-19 cases reported per 100,000 residents.
Elmore County, which includes the city of Mountain Home, owns the highest rate statewide, at 21.8, while Boise County ranks second (16.4) and Ada County third (14.8). Elmore County had a test positivity rate of 9.6% for the week of April 11-17, which was well above the statewide positivity rate of 4.7% for the same week.
