AKWESASNE The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center stated that no new cases of COVID-19 were reported under the Tribe’s jurisdiction Tuesday, holding the total number of active cases at four.
“With the number of active cases increasing all around Akwesasne however, including the province of Ontario going on a four-week lockdown, community members are urged to not let their guard down and to remain vigilant during the holidays,” Tribe spokesman Brendan White said .
The EOC says community members have done a great job adhering to safety protocols during Thanksgiving compared to the significant number of cases that were reported after Halloween. The low number of cases reported during the past month can be attributed to individuals placing the overall health and safety of their family, friends and the community as a top priority.
