HOGANSBURG A Hogansburg resident was arrested Feb. 17 in connection with a failed smuggling incident.
Kyle Thompson, 28, of Hogansburg, was charged with alien smuggling following an announcement made by Acting United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and Robert N. Garcia, Chief Patrol Agent, United States Border Patrol, Swanton Sector.
The criminal complaint alleges that Thompson was arrested while transporting two illegal aliens who had illegally crossed into the United States via the St. Lawrence River near Hogansburg.
The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police attempted to stop Thompson’s vehicle as he fled with the occupants in his vehicle.

CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) has taken part in a cross border anti-smuggling operation that has led to the arrest of 13 people.
The CPS in partnership with the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security simultaneously executed three search warrants on Jan. 28, 2021 as a part of Project Hammerhead.
The search warrants targeted a sophisticated smuggling operation that used Akwesasne territory on Cornwall Island as a transit point.
