The National Emergency Management Organization NEMO will host a Virtual Community Meeting this evening to update the North Leeward community about the preparedness efforts that are currently underway.
The Eyeing La Soufriere North Leeward virtual meeting will feature presentations from Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves; Director of NEMO Michele Forbes and Dr. Thomas Christopher, Lead Scientists of the La Soufriere Monitoring Team.
The meeting begins at six this evening and will be broadcast live on NBC Radio.
Meanwhile, Providing an update on the activity at the La Soufriere Volcano yesterday, Dr. Christopher said there is evidence of increased steaming on the old dome.

Houses for 47 families from Rose Place who will be displaced by the US$185 million port modernization project are expected to be completed by September this year.
Two of the units that are part of the housing project at Lowman’s Bay which will be home to 47 families from Rose Place who will be displaced by the US$185 million port modernization project. The houses are expected to be completed by September this year.
Several contractors are involved in the project at Lowmans Bay and so far, four of the houses have been completed along with a substantial amount of the infrastructure needed to make residents comfortable.

One of the first ventures of this initiative will be to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers in St Vincent and the Grenadines, who are on the frontlines of the fight against the COVID19 pandemic.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Disaster Relief Initiative Platform (SVG DRIP) held its official virtual launch on Saturday, February 20, during which representatives from various organisations in the Diaspora expressed support for the new initiative.

Test results for the Rock samples taken as part of the monitoring process of the La Soufriere volcano have been delayed
Volcanologist, Dr. Thomas Christopher says the results of tests carried out on rock samples that were sent away for analysis, as part of the monitoring process of La Soufriere Volcano, have been delayed as a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Dr. Christopher, who is leading the La Soufriere Monitoring Team, made the disclosure, during NBC’s
Face to Face program this week.
He said the samples were sent to the United Kingdom to be analyzed, but so far they have only had partial results of the rock chemistry.
