Vaccination clinics to open for teachers, veterans

(Photo courtesy of Memorial Hermann) James LaCombe Teachers and U.S. military veterans in Fort Bend County can access local drive-through COVID-19 vaccine clinics starting this weekend.  Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital will open its drive-through clinic at Smart Financial Centre from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday, according to a news release from the hospital. The event is specifically designed for teachers and school workers.  George Kovacik, Memorial Hermann’s director of external communications, said the hospital plans to vaccinate “approximately 10,000 individuals over the two days.” Memorial Hermann will be administering the Pfizer vaccine, and patients who receive their first dose during the Sunday or Monday clinics will have their second dose automatically scheduled for them and will take place at Smart Financial Centre again, on either Saturday, April 10 o

Bradley sponsors broadband bill in N H Senate

CONCORD — As Carroll County towns prepare to vote this town meeting season on creating a Broadband Communications District planning committee, the New Hampshire Senate has passed a bill designed to increase access to broadband internet. Prime Sponsor and Majority Leader Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) called SB 85 an important step, saying, “The pandemic has revealed that we need significantly more broadband access, especially for New Hampshire residents who are working from home, attending school on-line, participating in telehealth visits with their doctor or just trying to stay in touch with family and friends.” He added, “This legislation establishes a first-of-its-kind grant fund utilizing state and federal funds matched by cities and towns. This type of partnership is exactly what has been needed to significantly improve broadband to all Granite Staters.”
