After a number of years putting outside commitments ahead of time together, Ray and Dixie Beck are riding off together into the sunset with a grand new adventure awaiting them.
Following 30 years of service to the Craig Police Department as the Records Manager, Dixie Beck called it a career on Dec. 29. Just a few weeks later, Ray Beck walked way from local politics (for the time being) after nearly 14 years of service, including a two-term stint on city council, a term as Mayor and one term as a county commissioner.

Theresa DeVries has lived in her Lakewood apartment for six years and has no plans to move anytime soon. At least, she hopes she won’t.
DeVries has an autoimmune disease that already made it difficult to work before the pandemic. Over the past year, she’s only left home a handful of times, to avoid getting COVID-19.
Making rent has become a constant worry for DeVries. She lost her disability benefits in late 2019 after receiving them for several years and had to wait a full year to reapply. So she hasn’t had any income through the pandemic. But so far, she said her landlord has been pretty understanding.
Trustees Working to Develop New Housing in Granada
Lengthy discussion was held by the Granada Trustees during their July 8th meeting on a need for surveyed roads and property in town based on potential future business developments in the community as well as a small housing project. The Trustees held a workshop on July 6th with a developer as well as SECED Executive Director, Stephanie Gonzales on the project which provides tax rebates for housing developers and an opportunity for participating residents to eventually transition from renters to owners after a period of years. The houses discussed would be in the $150,000 to $180,000 bracket, ranging from 900 to 1,400 square feet with add-on capability. The developer requested that there be one central property owner, Granada, to handle the transactions. The Trustees are seeking available properties in the community to present to the developers by early August.
