FAIRFIELD When Stana McLeod first learned that the Maine Department of Environmental Protection was testing farmland and wells in Fairfield for “forever chemicals,” she was instantly reminded of a situation that unfolded in the area more than 20 years ago.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The estate of a construction worker horrifically killed two years ago when a gas-powered saw kicked back and cut his neck at a Westerleigh construction site has settled its lawsuit with the city for $10.5 million, court documents show.

Five cars, a motorcycle and an ATV were all damaged in a two-alarm fire Friday morning at a Colburn Street home, authorities said.
Along with the vehicles, the home and two-car garage at 101 Colburn St. also sustained damage in the 11 a.m. fire, Fire Chief David Parenti said.
No one was injured.
Parenti was the first to arrive on the scene and immediately called for a first alarm, which brought assistance from the Southborough, Shrewsbury and Westborough fire departments. The fire then became a second alarm.
“There was heavy fire in an attached garage that was extending into the house,” Parenti said.
