U.S. Attorney s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania issued the following announcement on May 19. Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced that Erie County has been officially designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) by the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy. Erie joins four other western Pennsylvania counties - Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, and Westmoreland - in receiving dedicated federal resources to coordinate federal, state and local governments to fight drug trafficking and abuse. Through this designation, Erie County will receive critical resources and support to disrupt and dismantle major drug trafficking organizations operating in the county, said Acting U.S. Attorney Kaufman.

While speaking with the driver of the semi the trooper could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the truck. The investigation led to the search of the semi and the discovery of approximately 162 pounds of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana.The driver, Dejohntae Williams, 27, of Victorville California, was arrested and is facing pending federal drug charges. EAGLE PASS, Texas A Customs and Border Protection law enforcement source reported the recovery of a body from the Rio Grande Wednesday morning. The body, described as a Hispanic male, was pulled by a Border Patrol airboat crew on routine duties. Agents say the person’s hands were bound and a puncture wound was discovered, indicating the possibility of a gunshot.
Local law enforcement was contacted and a justice of the peace issued a pronouncement of death and requested an autopsy. Border Patrol agents referred the case to Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
More than $50 million in drugs, 1,416 pounds of methamphetamine seized in Polk County investigation, officials say
Several arrests have been made and more than 1,400 pounds of methamphetamine have been seized after a recent investigation known as Operation Dirty Water, officials with the Polk County Sheriff s Office said.

More than $50 million worth of methamphetamine linked to a Mexican drug cartel was seized in a months-long drug operation of Florida s Polk County Sheriff s Office and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
According to WWSB, it was the largest meth seizure in Polk County s history so far. In a statement, Polk County Sheriff s Office said six people involved in the drug trafficking operation with a Mexican drug cartel were arrested.
The Polk County Sheriff s Office High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the HSI initiated a joint probe of a drug trafficking organization with ties to the Juarez Mexican drug cartel early this year, WFLA reported.
