Dhamma schools to re-commence on Jan 17

All Buddhist dhamma schools which are closed due to the coronavirus outbreak will be re-opened on January 17, stated the Department of Buddhist Affairs.The Department noted that, Dhamma schools in the isolated areas will be re-opened on the following Sunday, after the re-opening of schools in those particular areas.

The “Buddhism in Southern Region of Vietnam: Establishment and Development” Conference was organised on Sunday by the Vietnam Buddhist University in co-operation with HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dec 29, Colombo: The United National Party has directed a letter to religious leaders on the controversial issue regarding Sri Lanka’s strict policy of cremating corpses of Muslim people who died due to coronavirus infection against their religious rituals. Writing to the religious leaders, the Deputy Leader of the UNP, Ruwan Wijewardene says the crisis over the cremation of people who die of corona infection has now become a national and international issue that goes beyond the issue of human rights and the government has failed to reach a consensus on such sensitive issues.
