Potholes and cracked pavement are shown on West Third Street between Walnut and Campbell Streets.
About one mile of Third Street west of Mulberry Street to Seventh Avenue is scheduled for resurfacing and addition of curb cuts at intersections this summer.
“We are planning to resurface not reconstruct the street,” said Chris King, a state Department of Transportation District 3 spokesman during Monday’s Williamsport Area Transportation Study technical committee meeting.
PennDOT has wanted to reconstruct the street but financial challenges occurred during COVID-19, said Scott Williams, Lycoming County transportation planner.
“It’s not a total reconstruction but it will help,” he said.

John Forciglio of Williamsport uses a leaf blower to clear the snow from the sidewalk in front of Kinley and Sons Jewelers as snow begins to accumulate Wednesday afternoon.
The fast-moving winter nor’easter began barreling into Williamsport at noon Wednesday with latest snowfall accumulation to be 17 inches in 22 hours, the National Weather Service in State College said.
Accumulation should be 1 inch less in Lock Haven at 16 inches and 3 inches more or 20 inches in Sullivan County, the forecast showed.
PPL Electric anticipated and prepared ahead for power outages due to accumulation of snowfall and winds of 5 to 10 miles per hour and occasional gusts of wind up to 20 miles per hour, said Tracy Witter, PPL spokeswoman.
