Govt to facilitate Ayush research in veterinary medicines

Economy > Government policies 08 April 2021 Union ministry of AYUSH and the Department of Animal Husbandry on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for research on new formulations in quality drugs for veterinary applications. The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), under the ministry of AYUSH signed the MoU with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying for research on new herbs-based formulations in quality drugs for veterinary applications.  The initiative involves capacity building in related areas through training, exploring marketing possibilities for herbal veterinary medicines on a sustainable basis and providing for services, including cultivation, preservation and conservation of medicinal plants.

According to an official release, the Department of Animal Husbandry on January 4 notified detection of Avian Influenza (H5N8) in samples of dead ducks from Alappuzha and Kottayam districts in Kerala. A similar report of Avian Influenza has also been received from poultry samples from Panchkula District of Haryana, the release said.

The state government will provide Rs 200 each to owners of birds which are older than 2 months. Whereas, Rs 100 each will be given for birds less than one month old. The decision was taken in today s cabinet meeting.
