Feb. 20—At a time when relief matters in any form, Duluth-area labor unions are conducting a free-food giveaway open to everyone Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. CHUM received 4,186 pounds of frozen food from the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Ensuring spaces within the DECC complex are ready for activity is a critical step as the DECC prepares for an increase in events. Clearing the freezers of older inventory is one step in that process. The food was maintained properly, but is nearing expiration dates. Since it s not usable by the DECC, they donated it to help others.
Other Opinion: Work together on COVID exit strategy
The pandemic needs to end soon. With glimmers of optimism for that, Minnesotans can call on Gov. Tim Walz, our divided state Legislature, business owners, industries, and others to all work together, and to do so now and with urgency, so we can be ready when it does end.

The plan would be as welcome as it is ambitious assuming it could be carried out safely, without adding to or reigniting the spread of the coronavirus.
May 1. That was a date stated this week by Minnesota hospitality industry leaders and Republican lawmakers for bars, restaurants, gyms, and theaters to reopen, and for larger events to resume, all freed from the COVID-19 restrictions that have been decimating them, their industries, and their employees for almost a year.
