Gorakhpur: On the occasion of Guru Purnima on Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed puja and aarti at the Gorakhnath temple and also held a ‘janata darshan’. Addressing devotees at the Gorakhnath temple, he said that the tradition of ‘guru-shishya’ (teacher-taught) in the country is 5,000 years old which is unparalleled in the world.
“We are celebrating the importance of ‘guru’ (teacher) for the past 5,000 years. Maharshi Ved Vyas gave a new direction to India. Our history is much older than 5,000 years. Any other culture or civilization does not have such an old written history.”
On Covid-19 pandemic, the CM said, “For the last 1.5 years, the entire world as well as India are facing its challenge. Places like America and Europe have very strong health infrastructure but were defeated by the pandemic. However, life should be lived with liveliness. We are celebrating the festival while following corona guidelines and with a limited number of people.
Coal town wedding planners are planning to submit a petition to the Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner demanding provision of free food grains until the next wedding season for labourers working in the sector, as majority of them are deprived of ration cards.
