Trigg County Active COVID-19 Case Numbers Continue Decline

Officials with the Pennyrile District Health Department have confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases in Trigg County since Monday. In the official report released Friday afternoon, Trigg County Health Department reported 31 active COVID-19 cases. Since the pandemic began, the county has confirmed 1,042 recoveries and eight deaths related to COVID-19. Across the other four counties in the Pennyrile District Health Department service area, less than 25 active cases were reported in each county, except for Lyon, which reported 308 active cases. Of the high number of active cases in Lyon County, 280 are inmates at the Kentucky State Penitentiary or the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex.

Trigg School Board Approves First Reading Of School Calendar

Trigg County school board members approved the first reading of the 2021-22 calendar during its Thursday night meeting. Director of Student Services James Mangels told the board the first calendar option presented in a recent survey won with 66-percent approval.

New Student COVID-19 Case Reported At Trigg Middle School

A new COVID-19 case has been confirmed at Trigg County Middle School. Superintendent Bill Thorpe announced the case Thursday morning, although the district was made aware of it Wednesday. He said a deep cleaning of the middle school had taken place, and the Trigg County Health Department or district nurses will contact parents if their students need to quarantine. As of Thursday morning, the Trigg County Public Schools COVID Dashboard reported 11 active student cases, with five each coming from the middle and high schools. There are also four active staff cases, with two coming from other district employees. There are also 113 students and seven staff members in quarantine.

Trigg County High School Student Tests COVID Positive

A Trigg County High School student is the latest positive COVID-19 case in the school district. Superintendent Bill Thorpe announced the new case Wednesday morning and said extra deep cleaning and sanitizing procedures have been implemented throughout the school. The Trigg County Health Department has started the contract tracing process and will notify parents and students who may have been in close contact with the student. The school district launched a COVID Data Dashboard last week. As of Wednesday morning, the dashboard reported 11 in-person student active cases and 4 staff active cases. Also, there are 116 students and six staff quarantines.
