Trinidad and Tobago to receive EU funds to help Venezuelan migrants 3 Hrs Ago This November 2020 file photo shows people, believed to be Venezuelans, arriving at the Los Iros beach in a pirogue. - The world’s largest contributor of humanitarian assistance has approved an estimated €2.7m (US$3.3m) in funds for the protection, education and health of Venezuelan refugee and migrant children in Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Peru. The European Commission’s humanitarian aid department of the Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations approved the project, a release on Monday from the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to TT said.

Calling all Filipino students! Here is good news to all students. Submission of applications and entries to the EU Whiz Online Trivia, Digital Art and Video Competitions has been extended to 31 May 2021. Students ages 18 to 25 currently enrolled in Philippine schools, universities, colleges, or vocational schools are now welcome to join the expanded “Green ECO I See” Digital Art competition and “My Space, My Rights” Video competition. Submission of entries may be individual, by pair, or a maximum of three members. Participants in the expanded Digital Art and Video competitions need not come from the same schools. EU Whiz is the flagship inter-collegiate competition of the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines. Sara Khatun, Programme Manager, NETZ Our project began in 2018 with an aim to strengthen the grassroots civil society so that they can actively enhance their operational space and direct it towards the protection of human rights and prevent violence based on gender and other identities.  This project has been implementing in partnership with WE CAN, DASCOH Foundation, and NETZ with the financial assistance of the European Union. Bangladesh has various laws to promote women s rights and prevent violence against women but there is a gap in implementation. Through this project, we have organised 3,200 civil society actors in 128 groups and arranged regular dialogues with 1,600 representatives from 44 public authorities; training has been provided to 160 marriage registrars and 40 female police officers on Child Marriage Restraint Act (CMRA) and Domestic Violence Protection Act (DVA).
